Gourmet and suave, Melipona is a fragrance that opens elegantly with woody and vanilla notes and gives way to oriental and amber notes in the background. Vanilla originated in Mexico, where the Aztecs used it to soften the bitterness of chocolate. There were many European attempts to cultivate the pods outside of its original cradle. Louis XIV fell in love with it and wanted to cultivate it on Bourbon Island, in Réunion. But all attempts under his reign failed. No one knew how to fertilize vanilla outside its native range. Europeans were unaware that the Mexican bee Melipona was responsible for pollination. Indeed, thanks to it, the orchid provides a long, green fruit commonly called a vanilla pod.

I can’t put my finger on it but this smells like something I’ve owned before. Maybe Victoria’s Secret? Smells like youth but also like a very rich lady who has spent all day in the kitchen baking cookies. If it wasn’t $350 for 50ml I would be bathing in it.
It's a beatiful vanilla but I find it only lasts on me about 2 hours. It's really lovely for those who like an intimate scent bubble. That's not me. I find Celeste by Giardini Di Toscana to be very similar, lasts ages, and is less expensive. I won't be shelling out $400 for this but it's nice.
